MID CENTURY MODERN This solid walnut hardwood bed features wide tapered legs and flush mounted rails for a clean continuous line across the top edges of the bed. The headboard is available in 16″ – 20″ sizes – see our pillow guide in the images for help deciding. The bed pieces are finely sanded and the edges are left square and gently eased over to make them smoother and not sharp. WALNUT Beautiful black walnut is the darkest wood we offer, and can range from a medium brown to a dark rich brown. Sometimes we see a little bit of light sapwood, sometimes darker chocolate brown streaks or even a purple hue. When making our headboards from two pieces of wood, we work very hard to match the color and grain so it appears nearly seamless. Because wood is a natural product, its beauty marks are normal, and may include knots, knot holes, worm holes, large streaks or sections of light or blond sapwood and/or variations in grain and color. These variations are what make each piece unique. Order our wood samples here: www.etsy.com/listing/240464818/ NEW: PRIVATE STOCK If you are interested in something really fancy for your headboard, we do sometimes have book matched pieces, highly figured pieces, and curly walnut at an extra charge. Please see our current available pieces and pricing here : http://www.mountainmulehardwoods.com/speciallumber.html and just mention it when you check out. OUR BEDS Our bed frames are handcrafted from furniture-grade kiln-dried solid American hardwoods. Thoughtfully designed and constructed to last for generations, our beds are finished simply with a hand-rubbed coat of linseed oil to reveal the natural beauty of the wood. When you buy our beds, you can rest assured that you’re not bringing questionable wood or dangerous chemicals into your home, because our wood is solid, new, furniture-grade lumber, our glue is low-VOC and our finish is 0% VOC. Many of our customers have chemical sensitivities, and many people purchase our bed frames for use with organic mattresses. With everything we build, we think about safety, ease of use, practicality and durability of our pieces for generations of use. Standard slat spacing: Twin & Full: 8 slats 3.7” apart Queen & King: 9 slats 3.25″ apart Cal King: 10 slats 2.95″ apart Center support & leg are included on all King and California King size beds. This bed is meant for just a mattress. Please contact us if we need to modify for box springs or a foundation. A lower priced support option, which is equally strong, is for you to purchase untreated pine 2 x 6 slats from your local hardware store. They can be purchased and cut to size for $45 – $70. Should you choose to get them locally, we will tell you exactly what you need to get when you place your order, or feel free to request that info before you buy. *If you are getting your own slats, we will assume you want it set up for the standard amount of slats (9 for Q + K, 10 for CK) unless you tell us otherwise.* ASSEMBLY Our handmade hardwood beds are designed for easy home assembly. You will use a bit of glue, some dominoes, screws and a screwdriver, all of which are provided along with well-written instructions. Don’t let that scare you, if you want to see instructions before you order, just ask. Once you have the legs attached to the head and foot rails, the bed is easily put together (and taken apart, should you move) with interlocking metal bed hardware. The slats are placed across the bed to create your platform, with a center support beam and leg running from head to foot on the King and California King. CUSTOMIZATION Each bed we make is different, so don’t be afraid to ask us for what you want. Common requests are larger rails, a small footboard, more clearance under the bed, a higher or lower mattress height, different slat spacing, different support for box springs, different woods, etc. HELP!
